We showed up for the arts today. 🎶🎭
Our team joined artists and advocates at Civic Center Plaza alongside @artsculturesd + @sdartmatters to speak out against proposed cuts that could reduce arts funding by more than 80%.
Our Executive Director also spoke with the @sdut about why this moment matters.

Studies in Perception I by @badiabibiana - 2025
Tijuana, Mexico

Exhibition: Spotlight Gallery - Sacred Threshold

These figurative eye sculptures transcend mere representation. Their power resides in the pupil, meticulously embroidered with thread, introducing an organic texture and a profound material contrast. This fusion of the carved form and textile fiber symbolizes the vision of the soul—the "third eye." The act of embroidering the pupil represents the concept that true spiritual perception is a conscious tapestry, woven patiently from threads of intention and inner wisdom.

Materials: Embroidery, wood.

Technique: Sculpture, embroidery.
San Diego’s textile story starts with the Kumeyaay. 🧵

In San Diego Textile Scene, we honor that legacy through the work of Kumeyaay artisan Anselmo Dominguez (San Antonio Necua), featuring a traditional skirt and chest piece crafted from natural willow fibers.

Long before colonization, Kumeyaay makers were creating textiles from the land—using plant and animal fibers with deep knowledge and care.

This exhibition connects past to present, celebrating the roots of textile art in our region.
