Visit VMOTA during evening hours on Liberty Station’s First Fridays

Time: 5 – 8 pm

In addition to regular hours, we are open 5 – 8 pm on the first Friday of each month unless closed for installation.

Admission is free.

Join us once a month for a night of creative expression! As part of Liberty Station’s First Fridays, VMOTA will be open from 5-8 pm the first Friday of every month. Experience the Arts District after hours and wander through our galleries, interact with textile artists, and unleash your inner artist!

Free-Form Crochet Class:
For students with confidence in making single and double crochet knots

Location: VMOTA
2825 Dewey Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92106

Tuesday, April 16, 2024, 10:30 am – 4:30 pm with an hour break for lunch

Registration is now open for members and non-members here.

The cost will be $50 for VMOTA members and $55 for non-members.
Each student will be asked to bring their supplies. A list of supplies will be provided.

The class will be limited to 15 participants. In the event that the workshop is full when you attempt to register, please use our contact page to be put on a waiting list.

Come learn the basics of free-form crochet. Make at least one scrumble (free-form crochet patch) and crochet an eye for a future crochet portrait. Get answers how to start a free-form project and how to use free-form to create scenes, animals, and people.

Do you have fabric, sewing tools, embellishments, or sewing kits that have been taking up space? We’ll take them! Check below for more details about what we do and do not accept and drop them off at the museum May 18th or 20th.

Items we can use:

  • Textiles of all kinds – at least ¼ yard
  • Quilt tops, blocks, and kits
  • Jewelry, embellishments, beads, and buttons
  • Threads, lace, and trims
  • Working sewing machines and sewing tools
 
Items we do not accept:
  • Textiles that have a strong odor, sun damage, or mildew
  • Clothing
  • Yarns and fabric scraps
  • Textile, fabric, and trim samples
  • Arts and craft supplies
  • Books, magazines, and CDs
  • Large, framed art with glass
