ARTIST STATEMENT
My friend Lucy Mingo in Gees Bend, Alabama, once quilted an all-white quilt with her signature style of an assortment of concentric arcs. I asked her if I could make my own version of her design, and she told me to go ahead. When Patricia Belyea sent me the light blue ikat fabric, I decided to use it as the background for my bias tape version to be quilted with some of Lucy’s chickens.

Machine pieced and appliquéd.
Quilted cotton and wool.
