ARTIST STATEMENT

When a glacier melts too quickly, the runoff can change the direction of a river. When that happens, it is said that the river has been “pirated.” The quilting design is a transcription of a satellite image of a river in Alaska in the process of being pirated.

Machine pieced and appliquéd.
