Treasures from the Permanent Collection

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION

Since 2007, Visions Art Museum has been growing its permanent collection of two- and three-dimensional textile, fiber, and quilt fine art. Like the museum’s exhibitions, the collection centers primarily on contemporary art quilting since the 1970s. Artworks in the collection include pieces from dozens of artists working with a wide variety of textiles, media, tools, and techniques. The works on display here provide a glimpse on to the wide variety of styles used in contemporary art quilting. They all follow the basic definition of an art quilt: two layers of fabric that are stitched together. That is where the similarities begin and end! Each work is a unique expression of the artist’s vision and creativity in conversation with the sweep of fine art over time.
