ARTIST STATEMENT

The Northwest contains a great diversity of climate and landscape including desert, mountains, forests, rivers and ocean side. Our Pacific Ocean maintains our planet’s equilibrium, playing the major role of our climate. Thousands of species of birds, fish, and mammals inhabit the Northwest. The mixed ecosystem of sea and land are essential to life. The sediments deposited into the ocean from our rivers help to curb the ocean erosion, creating breakwater, thus protecting the shoreline. Topical Metamorphosisportrays a topical map section of the Northwest shoreline where rivers meet the ocean, constantly changing…a metamorphosis continues.
