ARTIST STATEMENT

In this quilt, Fayle explores the geometry and pattern of the simple shapes that are found in sacred geometry, architecture, nature and, coincidentally, quilt designs. Fayle sees the circled square as philosophically and spiritually symbolic of many things, including the elements and limitations of the physical world contained within the expansive, infinite universe. This symbol has added meaning when expressed in a quilt, which can be a utilitarian object that covers the body during sleep while the mind, the soul and the spirit are free and unencumbered.
