ARTIST STATEMENT
I am inspired by the power and force of recent volcanic activity in Iceland, Hawaii, and elsewhere. The visual contrast of light and dark, of powerful eruptions and turbulent flow of lava seems a metaphor for our lives today.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
Hand-dyed fabric, polyester black batting, commercial cotton backing, polyester variegated thread.
Hand dyeing, improvisational composition, machine stitched.
