ARTIST STATEMENT
My work often conflates contradictory ideas and impulses into a single image. Bones are a powerful symbol that evokes human mortality as well as human history and ancestry. In Heirlooms, a new series of domestic objects made of cloth-covered bones, I examine daily life in the context of human fragility — as well as human continuity over generations. How do objects passed down in families embody the people who came before us?
