ARTIST STATEMENT
After a period of inactivity during which I barely created art, I returned to portrait drawing, using a dear friend as the model, whom I recognize as a familiar place. The work explores the emotional connection and familiarity of a close face that represents a refuge in times of disconnection.
My work is centered on introspection and material experimentation. I see embroidery as an extension of traditional drawing, allowing me to translate lines into threads. Recently, I have been drawn to stitching as a means of creating textured canvases.
Through my work, I invite the viewer to appreciate silence, pause, observe, and reflect on the stories that fabrics can tell.
As a response to living in a society driven by productivity and constant communication, I seek refuge in my art—an escape from external noise. My work is a search for silence through artistic expression.
