ARTIST STATEMENT

It’s called Sea Star Wasting Syndrome. In massive die-offs, sea stars go from perfectly healthy to completely decomposed overnight. The cause is a mystery but its latest resurgence spread farther north than ever before—all the way to Alaska’s Katchemak Bay. Is this gruesome disease’s march northward tied to the warming oceans of climate change?
