ARTIST STATEMENT
“Grace 2, Joy” is one of three quilts in which I reinterpret the three graces of Greek mythology as they pertain to my art practice: Play, Joy, and Imperfection. This is the center panel, a lone figure in bright surroundings. Each of the “Graces” has her own personality and can be seen as a figure, a symbol, or an alphanumeric character. They are somewhat childish and whimsical in my expression of my creative spirit.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
Cotton fabric, polyester thread, and cotton/poly batting.
Machine piecing and quilting.
