ARTIST STATEMENT

Knowing that so many children around the world are deprived of the kind of childhood that many of us take for granted, my heart was painfully drawn to the faces and gestures these boys shared with each other, as well as the viewer. The plight of the world’s children who experience hard labor every day is a story I wanted to tell.

MATERIALS

Cotton, bamboo batting, polyester thread, textile paint

TECHNIQUES

Hand-painting, raw-edge appliqué, free motion machine stitching
