ARTIST STATEMENT
My creations can be seen from many dimensions: a magnification of microscopic particles, the vastness of space, a cross-section through the earth, an aerial view, or all of these in one piece. “Emergence 2” is composed entirely from strip-pieced fabric made from solid-colored cottons. From a distance, one is reminded of impressionistic images of sunsets and reflections. Up close, the blended colors of the intricately pieced stripes provide the curious viewer with numerous areas of engagement.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
Hand dyed and commercial cotton fabric.
Machine pieced, and machine quilted with walking foot.
