ARTIST STATEMENT
Many of the celestial objects depicted in “Edge of Chaos” are inspired by photos taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, including spiral galaxies, nebulas, and star clusters. The Clown-faced Nebula, the Ring Nebula, and the Red Rectangle provided some of the inspiration for the forms. Elements of nature— swirls, spirals, circles—push one’s imagination to the vastness of the cosmos. On closer inspection, unexpected curiosities arise in the patterns of color creating brilliant visual forms filled with specks of light.
