Sew Loka Workshop: Wear Your Story

Wear Your Story Workshop

In this workshop, participants will use storytelling techniques to create custom patches to design their own slow fashion jacket. You will be guided through a reflective process of identifying meaningful life moments, core values, or bold phrases that resonate deeply within. Using fabric paint markers, textile scraps, and other embellishment techniques, you will create custom patches that make statements and tell specific stories about your life. You will also be provided a variety of recycled and vintage fabrics, embroidery thread, lettering, tags, and more to cut and sew onto your own jacket.

(Note: participants will need to bring their own jacket for this workshop. We highly recommend using something from your closet or buying second-hand for sustainable fashion.)

Our goal is for you to walk away with an understanding of all of the creative ways you can use recycled fabrics and materials to tell stories and make statements about who you are and what you believe. We encourage you to think resourcefully about how to use materials that you already own or find to design something cool that you can take home with you at the end of the workshop.
