ARTIST STATEMENT
Bahia Grass is a reflection of my visit to Salvador, Brazil. The city, which is north of Rio, is very colorful. There were plantations of sugarcane in that area that had slaves from Africa that brought their sense of color and dance to the area. By making Bahia Grass very colorful, I wanted to show the charm and colors of the houses, the costumes and the culture that is so special.
