ARTIST STATEMENT

Working with the myth of Lady Godiva riding through town, and following the lead of many artists to visualize the activist suffragists, I explored ways to use this imagery for my quilt. In my research, two stories struck a chord—the 1913 suffragist parade and a woman on a white horse. Leap forward 100 years: Women are still marching together, arm in arm, showing a united front with the clear message that “Together” things can change and mountains are moved.
