ARTIST STATEMENT
When I was little, my family vacationed on the beaches of Oregon and Washington each summer. We walked for miles along the deserted sand, dug clams, and at low tide, we’d visit the odd creatures that live in tide pools. Sometimes my dad fished for salmon. Something about the beach dissipated my mother’s chronic depression, and we all basked in the warmth of her happiness.
Despite growing development, Pacific beaches remain magical places for me, reminding me of the times when I could reach out for my mother and she would be there for me.
