ARTIST STATEMENT
Three young, masked sisters were at a restaurant, showing varying levels of patience while waiting for a table with their parents. They just happened to be standing in a corner with wonderful patterns and routes leading us into the scene. A wood fence and handrail framed the girls. Trellises added pattern beside and behind them. Greenery provided brilliant color in the background, and a large red fan on the deck led my eyes straight to the figures.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
Commercial and upcycled cotton and rayon fabrics, silkscreened fabric, and thread.
Dye screen printing, raw edge appliqué, and machine quilted.
