ARTIST STATEMENT
This is a temperature quilt from my town Collierville in Tennessee.
I challenged myself to make it with paper and cloth. It all started by collecting newspapers and omitting newspapers from the year 2020. Needless to say, it was a rough year for everyone and I simply did not want to include negative news. Each block has three-part screen designs: two for paint and one for the newspaper. The recycled newspaper is washable paper-cloth, which is an original technique I developed. The daily temperature decided which color was used for the painting.
