ARTIST STATEMENT
During the pandemic we spent a lot of time just sitting, thinking, and re-evaluating. I was often alone in what had been a bustling art center. This is a self-portrait I did during that time. My camera is my sketchbook; a few of my shots get transformed with the textures, and only additional fabrics and stitch can contribute. Through my work, I strive to bridge the craftsmanship and traditions of “women’s work” with the strong concept and composition found in fine art.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
Custom printed fabric, commercial fabric, paint, and thread.
Weaving, hand stitching, domestic-machine stitching, and original photography.
