ARTIST STATEMENT
My work in fiber is first and foremost a careful consideration of formal design elements. Several years ago, I was drawn into an exploration of mixed media on paper to delve into more expressive mark making. My current fiber work is a reflection of this journey. Line, shape and texture are developed using thread, thickened dye, and acrylic paint. With formal design elements as a starting point, only through deep engagement with my materials and processes is content eventually revealed. This motif of stacked rectangles has appeared repeatedly in my work.
