ARTIST STATEMENT

This piece is inspired by hypersomnia, a symptom of depression. It is a drawing study focused on an ink stain that stained the fabric, the mark of that emotional experience. The work aims to reflect the calm and introspection that, despite the sadness, emerges within this condition.

My work is centered on introspection and material experimentation. I see embroidery as an extension of traditional drawing, allowing me to translate lines into threads. Recently, I have been drawn to stitching as a means of creating textured canvases.

Through my work, I invite the viewer to appreciate silence, pause, observe, and reflect on the stories that fabrics can tell.

As a response to living in a society driven by productivity and constant communication, I seek refuge in my art—an escape from external noise. My work is a search for silence through artistic expression.
