ARTIST STATEMENT

For a long time now, my main sources of inspiration have been in maps of ancient and modern settlements. This time I gave the shape of a big city (Chicago) a human form, with blocks of buildings spotted randomly around it. I attempted to evoke the feeling of knowing the place rationally well but emotionally getting lost in it. The distorted lonely figure has a map of his home city torn out from his body.

MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES

Vintage canvas, cast paper, and printed tissue paper.

Fused, hand- and machine-stitched.
