Supporting those impacted by the L.A. Fires

Our open call for collecting textile pieces ended on April 9^th, 2025. Thank you to the VMOTA community for contributing over 50 textile pieces to support those impacted by these fires. Your generosity is a beacon of hope during this time of healing and rebuilding.

It is unimaginable to comprehend the extent of loss and grief that our neighbors are experiencing in addition to losing their home structure, from family heirlooms to artwork to basic necessities, countless memories, and so much more. With the collected textile pieces from the United We Stand art call, we hope to bring a sense of welcome as they move into new places to call home. Each piece that has been collected will be sent to Los Angeles for distribution to fire victims through a free lottery system to help with fair distribution.

How to receive an art piece

If you lost your home, or your home was determined toxic due to high levels of asbestos from the recent Los Angeles fires, please email info@vmota.org for more information on how to retrieve a textile piece for your new or temporary home. We hope these pieces bring a sense of beauty and solidarity as you transition during this difficult time.
