Tout Feu, Tout Flame

ARTIST STATEMENT
Orange called for fiery colors, and why not literally try to make a fire piece? The background was made with thickened Procion dyes, using colors that could mix into orange, layered with acrylics. The color components are sometimes still visible and sometimes leave it to the eye to do the final mixing. The movement of the flames is a quilting feast, just right when a snowstorm is raging outside.
A few flames were added with appliqué in the ambers for more depth.
“Tout feu, tout flame” means bursting with energy and eagerness and reflects my mood making this piece.
