This is the only photo I have of my father in Camp. My father studied landscape architecture at U.C. Berkeley and because of his background, he was made one of the landscape supervisors in Camp. He and his crew as well as the other landscape gardeners dug up trees and bushes on the outskirts of Camp, moved them to the interior and planted them. Thousands of trees and bushes were planted and they survived while the Camp was in operation. His pay was $19.00 a month. This is a particular meaningful photo of my father that I am grateful to have, for my father was to pass away the first year after leaving Topaz of cancer, leaving my mother a widow with three young children.
