ARTIST STATEMENT

Following the big earthquake in 2010, life in the village changed a lot. Many people were injured or killed. People had to be taken to the hospital and medical help finally came to treat them. Up in the hills the river still ran and the sun still was shining over everything. Creating this quilt helped me feel better, and I had hope that everything would one day be better.

Apre gwo tranblemandetè a nan ane 2010, lavi nan vilaj la chanje anpil. Anpil moun te blese oswa mouri. Yo te dwe mennen yo lopital la epi finalman moun medikal te vin trete yo. Men nan ti mòn yo, larivyè toujou tap kouri e solèy la toujou klere sou tout bagay. Lè mwen tap kreye tablo sa a, sa ede m santi mwen byen, e m te gen espwa ke tout bagay tap vin bon yon jou ankò.
