ARTIST STATEMENT
Sunsets represent the end, yet an end suffused with glory. Not long after my father passed away, this sunset turned the sea purple, a phenomenon I had never seen before. At 85, and in failing health, he was at peace with a long life lived well, and determined to end it on his own terms: For his final farewell, he surrounded himself with family and friends in his home of 60 years. This quilt is a tribute to him, to the many days that we spent together on the water and to the integrity and intelligence that characterized his life to the end.
