ARTIST STATEMENT

Most of the discarded clothes I use in this series were women’s clothes. With the folds and volumes I try to bring to mind the absent bodies of those women as well as the topography of those stretches of land that have managed to survive the urban concrete invasion. It’s a commentary on the parallelisms between the patriarchal conception of the female body and of nature; how this vision contributes to the violence and degradation of which they are victims. Nature, and the body, seen as something that is used, something that is exploited as a resource to obtain profit and whose value is determined by its ability to serve.
