ARTIST STATEMENT

Too much time indoors can give anyone cabin fever, increasing anxiety, and frustration. Walking on the beach was my calm. When I saw this fabric, I immediately felt the ocean and had to use it for a mask. The crystals represent the shimmer of the sun against the water and the shells I embroidered depicts the many shells I collected along the way. The quilted design symbolizes the ocean wave.
