ABOUT THE ARTIST
Ana Hernández was born in Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico, in 1991. She graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Oaxaca and specialized in contemporary art at the CEACO clinics. Part of her training was received at the Oaxaca Institute of Graphic Arts (IAGO). She has participated in exhibitions in Oaxaca, Mexico City, Monterrey, the United States, Ecuador, and Spain, among others. Her artistic discourse focuses on the recovery of traditional clothing from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Her surroundings and concerns about migration, geography, and identity, stem from personal interests and translate into knowledge exchange within the community, Ana Hernández’s work represents a reclamation of art from indigenous peoples and their contemporary reflection. With an extensive production of textile-based works, she addresses themes such as migration, language, and family.
