ARTIST STATEMENT

I took the photo of this old truck which, by the way, had a huge American flag on the side of the body. In this case I found that cropping the image was more interesting design wise than the whole truck. This piece was the second in the series. I was trying to find my groove and decided to translate all the values from my black and white photo into vivid colors while still honoring the value placement. It was an interesting experiment in color but I started finding my painting chops more with each ensuing piece.

Parchment paper, light fusible web, organza, metallic acrylic paint, markers, paint pens, water-soluble ink block, wool batting, cotton backing
