ARTIST STATEMENT

Thinking of triangles and the heat and shape of flames of fire, this piece was inspired by the bright and vibrant oranges of my color card (Orange-Red 20). The cutting and piecing of the commercial solids paired with the hand painted fabric allowed the composition to glow and contrast with the cheerful colors. I eagerly await viewing the prism effect the many panels will display. 

MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES

Materials: Commercial cotton fabric, hand painted fabric, paint, felt backing, and thread. 

Techniques: Hand painted, and commercial cotton fabric intuitively cut and pieced; machine stitched and quilted.
