ARTIST STATEMENT

This piece is part of the series “La mona se viste como quiere” (The doll dresses as she pleases). The skin of this character is embroidered with cross stitch. It represents the pain of wearing one’s skin, the scars left by the struggles to love oneself. The flowers of her hair and her pose symbolize a determination to accept and give herself love and care.

Esta pieza forma parte de la serie “La mona se viste como quiere.” La piel de este personaje está bordada con punto de cruz. Representa el dolor de vestir la propia piel, las cicatrices que dejan las luchas por amarse a uno mismo. Las flores de su cabello y la pose simbolizan la determinación de aceptarse y darse amor y cuidado.
