ARTIST STATEMENT

Selecting the blue/green color card meant I would have to dye many of my fabrics, and using the blue/green Procyon dye was the perfect solution. I was gifted a bag of vintage fabrics and selected many of them for this quilt and tearing them was a way of using texture in this piece. My design inspiration came as I had been working on a series of wildflower quilts, and using grasses to showcase different textures in the fabrics seemed the right solution.

MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES

Materials: Vintage organza, silk, and crepe; hand dyed cotton and commercial fabric. Cotton batting, cotton threads. 

Techniques: Piecing, layering, fabric collage, and free-motion stitching.
