ARTIST STATEMENT
This piece is part of the series “La mona se viste como quiere” (The doll dresses as she pleases). Cachanilla refers to a thorny weed that is common in the Baja region. It’s also the way they refer to people native to Mexicali. This character represents a female that is getting comfortable in her environment, however it may be, and also with her body, however it may look.
Esta pieza forma parte de la serie “La mona se viste como quiere.” Cachanilla se refiere a una maleza espinosa que es común en la región de Baja California. También es la forma en que llaman a los nativos de Mexicali. El personaje representa a una mujer que se está sintiendo cómoda en su entorno, sea como sea, y también con su cuerpo, como sea que se vea.
