This baby was born behind barbed wire and lived her first three years incarcerated in Topaz. She learned to crawl and walk on the rough hewn planks of the 20 x 20 room that her family was assigned to. That baby was me. For all the young mothers giving birth and taking care of young children, living under these circumstances was challenging, as there was no sink, refrigerator, or bathroom. Each room in the barracks had Army cots to sleep on, one light bulb, and a pot belly stove for warmth.
