ARTIST STATEMENT
“If you prick us, do we not bleed?” draws inspiration from Shakespeare’s ‘The Merchant of Venice,’ regarding the universal question of shared humanity. Similarly, my artwork seeks to unravel the complexities of identity and empathy.
Cording and quilting is used to symbolize the intricate threads that connect us all. It is my hope that this artwork serves as a catalyst for introspection and empathy.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
Repurposed clothing, linen, silk and cotton fabric, linen/silk yarn, felt circles.
Trapunto, cording, machine pieced, hand appliqué, embroidered, hand quilted with various threads.
