Homage To Rennie Mac

ARTIST STATEMENT
I fell in love with the work of Scottish architect, designer, and water colorist Charles Rennie Mackintosh when visiting Glasgow several years ago. Among his many beautiful designs is the famous Mackintosh rose. I started with a hand-drawn image of his rose which I embellished with shimmering metallic paints in golden hues. From there, I created a pattern which is somewhat “architectural“ in nature, loosely suggesting pointed roofs, arches, and soft curves. I wanted the piece to have texture (from wool and raw silk) and precision, like his work.
