ARTIST STATEMENT

I have been working with scraps of fabric that have been left from other projects to piece together a base layer for new works. This process of not wasting any bits has taken many forms and allows me to alter the heart of the piece creating a new outside form. This piece Fractured is symbolic of our society and its many flaws, torn apart and tortured because of outside appearances varying, forgetting that the inside is the same. As I created it the hope of mending and acceptance is visible as seen in the stitched blooms.
