ARTIST STATEMENT

Walking among the fallen autumn leaves provided inspiration to explore yellow orange. Three freshly fallen leaves atop a blanket of deteriorating leaves allowed me to stretch the color. Dark brown allowed the rich warm color on the large leaves to pop. Varying shades of disintegrating leaves allowed the use of very light color along with many shades, tints, and tones, giving life to the background blanket of leaves. Using a shrinking technique, I was able to give the background leaves their decomposed look.

Prism Play involved learning about pushing color to extremes and problem solving how to combine them for effect. I like looking at a subject or idea, then deciding which techniques and combinations will give me the results I envision.
