ABOUT THE ARTIST

Francisco Javier Morales Dufor

Francisco Javier Morales Dufor, born in Mexico City, studied architecture at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He participates in façade restoration projects in the historic center. In 1989, he immigrated to Europe. From 1993 to 1998, he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Bern, Switzerland, focusing on the knowledge and application of materials in volume, sculpture, and engraving techniques. He attended Ursula Jakob’s engraving studio for several years. Concurrently, he participated as an artist in numerous solo and group exhibitions, biennials, and competitions in Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Mexico, France, Austria, Romania, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, the USA, and Ecuador, as well as several African countries. Throughout the years, Francisco Morales has ventured into various techniques ranging from painting, engraving, object art, and installation, from urban sculpture to space intervention. Francisco Morales’ work philosophy has always been to seek balance and coherence between discourse and object in his proposals. Every body of work he has created is based on the creative environments he’s developed over generations and is reflected in the staging both in galleries and in open spaces.
