ARTIST STATEMENT

I am an improvisational textile artist. The rhythm and repetition of piecing fabric, cutting pieces to create new configurations and rejoining them – without ruler or measurement – create vibrant, abstract structures. Bold color and value choices further propel the musicality of my work. The dark ground of this piece represents artists who are at risk of creating in cultures that suppress free expression. My work is densely quilted, resulting in a dynamic fabric painting.
