Chartreuse Village

ARTIST STATEMENT
A posting on Facebook gave me the inspiration for the subject matter of my quilt. The photo of an Iranian village carved into a hillside captured my interest, and I thought the little houses could be shades of chartreuse. As I drew the village, I realized that it was just semiregular horizontal lines interspersed with verticals. The little squished shapes were just not that interesting. I decided to totally abstract the drawing by adding rectangles in areas that needed interest.
