ARTIST STATEMENT

I equate a prism with joy and light. An encompassing of all things that, when merged, create warmth and inclusion. I can so clearly see the installation of this work. Numerous voices in color, all singing together in harmony. The colors aqua and blue, to me, are water colors, cool and soothing. I love spending time in nature and wanted to convey a place where I spent many happy times with my mom and grandfather as a child. A peaceful complement to the “hot” colors the prism provides. My first time working monochromatically helped me grow as an artist.

MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES

Materials: Tulle, iridescent poly fabric, metallic and MonoPoly threads, a bit of trim, multiple types of cotton embroidery thread, cotton batting, and Inktense pencils.

Technique: Hand embroidery with netting and thread.
