ARTIST STATEMENT

The creative process is exciting but messy. Artistic visions battle it out in my conscious and subconscious mind before work begins and the piece evolves on the design wall. Trying a new idea can be challenging and exhilarating but with each new piece there are times when I love it, question it, then work to rescue it. The payoff is when it all finally comes together. Brain Storm is about this turmoil and transformation.

MATERIALS

Hand-dyed and commercial cotton, cotton/polyester batting, cotton/polyester thread

Freehand cut shapes, raw edge machine appliqué, layered with batting and backing, machine quilting
