ARTIST STATEMENT
“Best Friends” was the first Guardian quilt I made. I was determined to use only the fabric I had on hand and my own hand-dyed fabrics. I created the large circles not intending them to be “heads,” but as I worked improvisationally and intuitively, they became the heads of two figures. As I look back now, I realize I was creating other entities with which to interact during the second year of isolation during the Pandemic.
MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES
Commercial and hand-dyed cotton fabric, wool/cotton batting, and polyester thread.
Machine-pieced, and machine-quilted (sit down longarm quilting machine).
