ARTIST STATEMENT

My work focuses on animal-human connections. In this piece I wanted to capture the feel of the swirling dance of a flock of birds, its energy and the cross currents of emotion. I see many parallels with humans: their drive to keep moving, their fussing and territorial fights, and the seamless way they blend together into a mass. I also wanted to pay homage to the many rapidly disappearing bird species in the U.S.
